Do I need to be worried about car rental for July 1 right now? I think that is off season, but the Carnival celebration is going on. I have not thought about this much -- do I need to do this now?
I doubt you will have any problem, but why wait much longer?
I agree. The great thing about car rentals is "no deposit". Make the reservation, then cancel if anything changes.
You are right -- I will take care of that this week! I enjoyed your trip report. I notice that you are from Lexington, Kentucky. My husband was born and raised there -- off Nicholsville Road (or something like that).
Thanks for your comment. We had the best vacation ever this past week. Lexington is an awesome city. We've been here 8 years (originally from Southern Indiana, then 3 years in Atlanta) and have made it "home". Have a great time!
I think you are wrong about the no deposit thing on St. John. The ones I checked into on the internet all required a "non refundable" deposit of $100 if a reservation was canceled less than 2-3 weeks. If someone is looking for just a one day car rental its hard to find a place that will let you reserve it ahead of time for less than 3 days.
On the other hand, both Hertz and Budget at the airport on St. Thomas did not require a deposit for a one week rental.
