I am looking for some information on renting a vehicle large enough for 8 people. It needs to be 4 wheel drive as we are staying at Coral Rays Villa near Coral Bay (heard it is quit a drive to this villa). We were thinking about renting a safari, does anyone have any suggestions as to where to go to rent one? I have been doing some research on line, but was wondering if anyone has any further helpful advise.

Funny that you are looking for the same type of vehicle that I am. C & C rentals has a safari but they are closed on Saturdays. I will find out if they have a 4 wheel drive safari and post it as soon as I find out on Moniday and they are a little cheaper that the other one I got a price from.

Just a suggestion...why not rent two Jeeps? Example: Maybe 1/2 of your group will want to do the Reef Bay hike, but the other 1/2 would prefer to shop for the morning.

We are traveling with some "cheapy's", so we have to travel on a budget. One of the girls thought she would rent a scooter, but I hear that is out of the question because of the road conditions. We will have just one vehicle, and will have tp be agreement when we decide to go somewhere.

Be sure to make the "cheapy's" take a cab when they want to go somewhere else than the jeep renters. They'll learn very quickly that the "cheap" people rent jeeps! You can't get anywhere without transportation, and renting a jeep is the absolute cheapest way to go (other then renting a taurus from STT airport and taking the car ferry over to STJ - $200 per week total).

Good Luck - Have Fun!

ahhhhhhh, there is an alternative to renting a JEEP or taking taxis for the "cheapys" tell them to rent a 2-door, 4-passenger Suzuki Vitara - it is about $120 less than a jeep for a week 😉

ENJOY!

We just got back and rented a Montero for 6 people. Last year we rented 2 grand Vitara's for 8 people. Our villa road this year was definately tougher than last years (Chocolate Hole) and I will rent two smaller cars next time (Grand Vitaras or Wranglers) I would not want to negotiate a larger vehicle on the tougher roads. We slid backwards off the road (two back tires) and had to be winched back on. And it was a steep drop off. I drove alot last year, with no problem and would definately go with two or more smaller vehicles.

Tell the 'cheapies' that they are going to have to come up with the $$ cause you're going to need 2 Jeeps for 8 people....end of story.
