Thought you all should know that when renting your vehicle, you should be aware that Hertz does not allow their vehicles over to St. John! Many guests are disappointed to find this out upon their arrival. It is nice to beable to plan a day trip to St. John and do your own personnel tour with your own vehicle by taking the barge! Some people are content just taking the ferry, but thought this was of value to mention!
We have rented from Dependable Car Rental for years and have always taken our vehicle to St. John. This year we rented a Jeep for our St. John week and a sedan for our St. Thomas week. It is easier to get around St. John and on and off the car ferries with a Jeep.
We rented from Avis last week and got our vehicle in no time. Only thing is a Chevy Trail Blazer doesnt do well on STJ roads. There was a hill I couldnt get up when it was raining. Also, it had no horsepower going up any of the hills. So I wont rent that type of vehicle again.
Dependable is the best in my opinion, when dealing with deals and good service! Not to mention I've used their service for a long time now and have never been disappointed.
We have rented from Amalie Car Rental (www.amailecar.com) and they worked out great. They are privately owned and they come with the car right outside the gate at the airport so you don't have to wait in ANY lines when getting the car or dropping it off. It was the BEST car rental experience I've had in my life.
Where are you?
