Hi - On our first trip to STX in 2007 we had our original reservation with Budget. When we arrived they would not honor what they had committed to previously regarding our rental. Long story short - I thought I had lost my wallet a couple of nights before we left so we cancelled our cards, only our new debit MC arrived before we left. We had several conversations with Budget and they assured us they would take care of us and run a cash hold for the car (using the debit as a MasterCard charge) and then when our regular cc's arrived (we were having them sent to our villa agent) that they would refund the cash and re-write the rental agreement - all we had to do was return to the airport office when the cards got there We arrived and they told us they would not do that and that they did not have a car for us anyway. As my husband was trying to explain who we talked to and what was committed to, the Budget agent actually slammed the little window shut in his face. OK - shades of Budget STT (where we have had our share of issues) - lol. Through our villa agent we received excellent consideration from Centerline and they are the ones we rented from on STX in '08 and will in '09. They meet you in the baggage claim area (right by the welcome rum stand), then take you to their satellite office right off the airport property to complete the paperwork (you avoid the airport tax that way). You may even get back to the airport before the rest of your group has claimed their luggage. Just make sure that if you are the only one going to pick up the car that you have the drivers' licenses for any additional drivers. when you depart you just leave the car in the airport lot with the keys locked inside. We have had excellent service, clean cars, and good pricing from Centerline. Have a great time!
