We will be staying in STT, but would like to go to St. John for dinner one night. Is it more practical to bring your car on the ferry or just take a taxi when you arrive in St. John.

Unless you are having dinner outside Cruz Bay I think the car ferry might be a waste of time. You can walk from the passenger ferry to most of the CB restaurants and the hassle of finding parking in CB, lining up for and paying the now higher fare for car ferry doesn't seem worth it.
If you are eating outside CB or want to sightsee some than your car makes sense.

Are all car ferries $52 now? We were there in the beginning of the month and the General I & II were charging $52 and the others were charging $35

Can you recommend a few good resturants in Cruz Bay? We were thinking of Zozo's, but would welcome suggestions/

Hello,

Mary - The Car barge doesn't have late evening hours so it doesn't work for going over for dinner. The last ferries coming back from St. John to St. Thomas are around 6pm or thereabouts. Check the schedules for exact times, the link is at the top of this page. Its worth it if going over for the whole day. Take the passenger ferry for dinner trip.

Ryan - Republic's Captain Vic is $35 round trip (just double checked). General is $50. ($1 tax is added as per General.)
