Hi All,
Are there any issues with car ferries between STT and STJ these days? We were told that only one boat is running with a several hour delay. We won't be there for another week and staying on STJ but wanted to rent a car at the airport to be able to explore STT on our own. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks,
Barefoot
I called to inquire and was told:
Reservations for Love City's, Capt. Vic must be made 72 hours in advance. You can go to their website and click the book now button.
Waited over an hour and a half on Monday. Down to one ferry. Not sure what the issues are with the other ferries but if we go back to STJ will be on people ferry. We spent about four hours total waiting, loading and crossing.
Any new updates on the ferry situation? We arrive STT on 8/13 and wonder if they are back to 3 car barges running, or is Capt Vic down for repairs now? Sounds like General and Island Vic should be available even if the Capt. is getting a new ramp.
No telling what the situation will be when you arrive and best bet is to make a reservation as many have been doing with minimum wait time.
As of today there are 2 barges back in service.
They're both Love City barges so you can make the reservation without being concerned that one won't accept the other's ticket.
Planning an upcoming trip and trying to decide whether to rent a jeep in St. Thomas or St. John. Have the car barge problems been resolved? Thanks!
Yes, they have been resolved.
