I tried to search a similar topic but most were for rental agency choice. We have 5 adults with choice between 4D Wrangler, Liberty or Vitari. We have used a Vitari in the past when just the two of us but wonder if it or the Liberty is roomy enough for 3 adults in the back. Being somewhat larger has anyone had issue with the Wrangler maneuvering, parking etc. on islands?
We had a Liberty last year.
Enough room for 3 adults in the rear seat.
Comfortable ride....no problems experienced with driving around or parking on the island.
Thanks for the help
We always strive to get a 4 WD Wrangler. We did have 5 adults one trip. Ok on backseat space......luggage was tight but we made it. A wrangler parks like a dream, due to its height. Piece of cake. Being somewhat top heavy your passengers will feel the movement of the jeep in the curves more than the driver, but no worries if you take the curves slowly. If you plan to go over to st. John and take he vehicle....make sure you check with your agency to be sure your vehicle is allowed to enter the car barge. I believe it is Hertz that DOES NOT allow their cars to leave St. Thomas. Just check!
Just another couple of cents input (and I really don't think it's simply because I have old bones as I've heard it said by others much younger than I!) but I find Wranglers and Jeeps in general a very uncomfortable ride as a passenger.
Well I was going to go with the Wrangler until the last two posts. Thought the Wrangler would be better for the road to Sago Palms but my travelers tend to be a little motion sensitive anyway. The roads on STJ will work on them no matter how slow I go (need to keep up with the donkeys at least) especially if we are 'riding high'. Perhaps the Vitari or Escape would be better.
Of course, all of this could be moot as what you order might not be what is available when you get there anyway...
Chris, I've not been in a Vitara so can't speak for that, but I've been a passenger in a couple of Escapes and drive an older Explorer, both of which are SUPER comfortable. The Explorer's a little large for my current needs but the Escape is something I would definitely look at if there's a next time around as it has the same seating capacity (ample room for five) but a little less "extra" rear storage space. Hope you get what you want!
Thanks so much !! So how's 'retirement' working out for you? My wife retired this year and she keeps waffling back and forth looking for a 'purpose'. I keep telling her to do all the things she wanted to do but didn't have the time before. One advantage is we are going back to the VI and not having to do it between June and August (the off season for school district).
We both regret never getting to visit the T&T but experienced it instead through comments and pictures of all your satisfied patrons.
The advantage to having more flexibility where visits here are concerned is priceless - you'll gain a whole new perspective! All the best to your wife - once she's had some time to adjust she'll be running you ragged and enjoying every moment of the freedom. It's still weird for me but this utterly wonderful laziness soon must end as I prepare for my next adventure or two or three as one can't afford to live here on one's good looks alone. And no, I won't be running around a kitchen! Cheers!
True that Wranglers and Jeeps in genernal are designed to be rugged (height, knobby tires, 4WD, all terrain capabilities, etc). I wouldn't want to ride across the U.S. in one but I would be perfectly comfortable going from one end of the island to the other.

LOL
You do not give yourself credit my dear.

You're very sweet but the website pics were culled to provide those most flattering and the pub lighting was likewise designed for the purpose!!! 😀
