Car Barges/ rental cars on barges/ STT local agencies

Was thinking about renting vehicle on STT. Republic Barge Service says passengers ride free. If there is 5 of us, do we all get to ride free? Can Thrifty cars be taken on the ferry? I don't see any car rental companies on STT other than the major ones. Would rather rent form a local company. Thanks

We are also renting from Thrifty because their prices are so much lower than most places. We tried renting from a local and no offense but we got quoted $150.00 more for the week than with Thrifty so we went with Thrifty. You can also take all Thrifty vehicles to St. John with no problems except if you get a flat tire pr something like that you are on your own.
