I was wondering if you need to make a reservation to take your car over to St. John on the car barge or if it is even possible. Do they usually fill up?

Thanks!

Unfortunately I can't give you specifics, but it seemd pretty easy to take one of the barges.
I traveled from St John to St Thomas and back to play golf at Mahogany Run and the group I traveled with just showed up at the dock. I don't think the barge was completely filled going either direction.

No reservation necessary. Like Kurt said you show up at the dock. No one ever is at the dock - no booth or anything. You just wait - when the barge pulls in they always seem to know who was there first LOL... and then they come to your car or holler at you to start reversing onto the barge - you pay once on the barge. Yes its possiable to take the barge - there are several. Be there about 15 minutes early 20 minutes on weekends, and stay in your car dont park and then come back, park closest to where the barge comes in. Its sort of be ready to get on - because it seems unorganized people usually want to insure they get on - so it often looks like 5-10 cars in reverse possition all waiting to gun it and get on the barge first - usually everyone gets on, if not you get on the next one.
