I have stayed at Caneel Bay resort in the early 90 ehen it was a Rock resort.
Now it is owned by another company.
Someone told me it is getting run down and service is not like it used to be.
I stayed at a room right on Hawknest beach and it surpassed Hawai in beauty & charm.

Which resort on St John do you suggest for ultimate experience & beauty?
Money is no object!
Thanks
Ralphy

Ralphy: Caneel is run by Rosewood. They have some top-notch hotels, including The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas and Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda. I would take Caneel if it were run-down ( and I don't believe it is!) over just about any other place in the VI, but that is just me. It is not luxury to all, but Mr. Rockefeller was thinking more of expensive camping than anything else. It is a great place to get away from it all. Try Turtle Beach this time...

I have reservations at Caneel Bay in May. I am very excited about staying there. Can anyone give me a review/brief description of the resort? First trip to the Virgin Islands!

Ann: Have you looked at their website? They have a map of the grounds and some photos. It has been some time since I have stayed there, but had friends get married there 1 1/2 years ago and they said their room (on Turtle Bay) was heavenly...their wedding was too!!! The grounds are some of the most beautiful in the Caribbean, IMHO!!

Hello Ann,

The weather in May is typically low 80's, hot, nice breezes, possibility of some rain showers - typically in the am.

Have a great time.
