I posted a thread earlier but forgot to ask a couple of things!

1. How far is Jost Van Dyke from STT or STJ and what is the fastest way to get there?

2. Is there a place where you charter your own boat (no captain) for the day if so who do you recommend! Not looking for a big vessel just big enough for 2 adults and 3 kids!

Thanks for any and all help!

Felicia

It's very close to STJ, You can rent a boat from Ocean Runners in Cruz Bay, But you have to clear customs w/ the BVI (They take it pretty seriously.) I have always gone through customs in West End Tortola. There may be a customs office on JVD, but I don't know.

Thanks Wes! Can you tell me how long it takes to get there and how long to clear customs and what you suggest as far as customs goes the best place to clear!

Hello Felicia,

Its about 45 minutes from St. John on the ferry to Jost. The fastest way to get there would be a fast boat :).

You can rent a boat (with or without captain). Try http://www.stthomasboatrentals.com

There is a customs office on Jost --- just down the beach to the west of Foxy's. Ask anyone around the pier for directions.

Felicia: I noticed that you are coming on a cruise. Given your time restrictions, going to JVD would be better left to your next trip down! Getting a boat, travel and Customs will take up a good part of your day! And if you don't get back by 4:30, you are responsible for getting to the next port!
