Hello All

We have a flight from Miami to STT that lands at 12:50 pm. Can we make the Ferry for Jost Van Dyke which departs at 2 pm? The other option would be to come in the night before and spend the night in St. Thomas.

If you think we should spend the night in St. Thomas any recommendations on where to stay for an 8 am departure out of Red Hook?

Thank you for your help.

Eric

You'll be cutting it mighty mighty close if you need to get off the plane, get your luggage, and over to Red Hook by 2:00PM. I wouldn't count on that happening, though it's certainly possible depending on traffic patterns and how quickly your bags come out of the till...not all that many one night places on STT but try the Wyndham and Marriott--also try Best Western right next to the airport, you can just walk there if they have a room.

I agree that it's pretty unlikely you'd make the 2PM to Jost out of Red Hook so your best plan is to come the night before and head out early the next morning. There are only a few places which accept one night accommodations and your best bets would be the Best Western Emerald Beach Resort which is on the airport road on a lovely beach. Walking distance if you're fit and have no baggage but otherwise just a $4 pp taxi ride. The other is Crystal Palace which is above town in an historic building replete with charm and a beautiful vista over town and the harbor. Ronnie is the consummate host and will not only pick you up from the airport but get you all set up for transportation to the ferry in the AM.

Thank you for the responses.

Another option may be to take the Amalie to Tortola West End (2:30) and then on to Jost Van Dyke.

Has anyone tried to do this?

Thanks!

Eric

The ferry schedule (top right under Quick Links) notes 330, 415 and 430 to Road Town and 330 and 430 to West End so you could easily make one of those depending on the ferry schedule from Tortola to Jost. It's always a good idea to call the ferry operators to make sure as the schedules do sometimes change on short notice.
