Hi all,

My question is not directly related to the islands but I was hoping that you could help me out anyway. My husband and I are traveling to Italy on Wednesday and decided not to check any luggage and do carry-on only. When I check the TSA webpage they have banned items but it doesn't specifically say that disposable razors are prohibited.

It's just my husband and I traveling this time and I want to make sure that I have clean shaven legs without the hassle of figuring out where, if any, convenience stores in Rome are.

For all of my travels to STT, I always just picked them up at the store. By the way I'll be back on the 15th of January for a four night stay so if anyone is in town and would like to get together please let me know.

Molly

Yes you can take disposable razors, but you can't take anything in liquid more than 3 oz. So that will limit more of your carry on..

You can bring bring razors with blades in cartridges. Here is the TSA prohibited item list:

http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm

Does Italy have different rules?

Thanks C CMom and Pattikake, that's the way I thought that I read it. The razors not in cartriges.

jsmith, although my husband is of German descent, I doubt that he will want to revert back to the way things used to be. I don't think that it would impress him much if I climbed into bed with 2 day stuble and said that I was trying to fit in with the natives. He is a wonderful man and we've been together for almost 20 years so I don't think that it would be a deal breaker...but...Italy with no kid's, I want it special and romantic in every way.

Thanks all,

Molly

I was amazed this time that we weren't checked for anything.

OK, make me take off my flip flops, but I have a lighter in my pocket.

I also had a regular size bottle of sun block in my carry on and never stopped me on the way down or back.

I had to razors and they weren't disposables except for the blades.

Medicine is does not fall under the 3 ounce rule, BTW. One reporter took two 12 ounce bottles of saline solution in his carry on, and the TSA official asked him why he needed two. The reporter said, "Two eyes" and was allowed through.

This whole TSA thing is retarded:

i worked TSA for 3 years, I know they change things all the time, but that part has not changed. As long as it is the disposable type you are good to go

Thanks for all of the help. I'm leaving for Rome in an hour. I'll check back and let you know if I had any problems getting through security.

Oh Molly: the best time to explore Rome is late at night. No cars, very few people out, and the whole city is lit up brightly, especially the sites.

Learn to speak a little Italian and they will love you there!
