Hi.

We are staying at the Tennis Villa and Cottage in Jan. which is really close to the Westin in St. John and I have heard you can use the Westin's beach. Does anyone know if you can also use the water trampoline and iceburg?

Thanks!

I always do. Just act like you own the place. Lunch at the beach restaurant is also pleasant.

I have stayed at the westin and nobody asks any questions. I think you'll be fine. Same thing with Caneel. You can park there and walk to Honeymoon or any of their other beaches and you should be fine.

Same here. We actually took a cab there, walked right in down to the beach and hung out for a while. It's pretty.. but I don't think the beach is nearly as nice as most of the others on the island... not as tropical and something about it feels man made (maybe it is?).. but the water toys are pretty fun, they have nice lounge chairs, and will bring you drinks.

Yep, it's man made. And the water isn't usually clear at all. The view includes dozens of boats moored offshore. All in all, most any beach in STJ is nicer.

But then again, I'd take their beach (on it's worst day), over my cube any time!!

The beach isn't that great at the Westin...the water is murkier than other STJ beaches. But if you want water toys, that is the place to go.

Definitely don't visit the Westin beach for the actual beach. Rather, visit to give the kids a fun place to play, to enjoy the restaurant and bar, etc. Also, being that they turn a lot of lights off at night, it's a decent place to stargaze if you're looking for a lounge chair and comfort. It's definitely not as great as other places on the island for stargazing, but it was doable (mind you, we live in san diego where stargazing is impossible without a long drive).

As far as I know and have been told, there are no private beaches on St. John. I just got home from staying at Villa Splash right next to the Westin and several of us swam to the trampolines and used them.

Robby,
I have looked at Splash for future trips. Is it an easy walk over to the Westin beach?

1. no one can stop you from going to the beach on st john unless it is someones home (not to likely)
2. The westin is not to tight on security , caneel is more so.
3. just dont try and use the beach chairs and you will be ok
4. Ginbey Cottage does have a private for 5,000 a week 0r 3500 off season.

You can access Gibney through the oppenheimer gate. Lots of people do just that...and it's a perfect little beach!
