I know - please don't give me too much grief - I'm just posting a question for my 13 y/o.

She is *really* into American Idol and we will be in STJ for 2 weeks - staying at Cinnamon Bay campground - ie no TV. Are there any "bar-type" places that are family friendly? Any othr ideas about where she may be able to watch this show in STJ? I told her we could always have friends tape it but she is hoping to be able to see it on vacation.

Thanks!

I can't think of any place that would allow that show to be played on their TV's here. Anyone?

Just find someone with cable - like most all of us - and you daughter should be able to watch. BUT - since you're on vacation - I'd strongly suggest taking a VACATION from regular things - enjoy the beauty of where you are....and here's an original thought - talk and share and sing songs around the campfire as a family - you never know what treasure you'll find in the blessings of family.

Do you have a vcr at home? If so program it to record the show or find someone else who will.

Island Paul - your "original thought" isn't all that original to us. We booked 2 weeks of camping with our family to talk, swim, take nature walks and just enjoy each other (I don't think campfires are allowed at Cinnamon Bay.) My daughter would just like to see one hour of tv each week we are there. Not all that unreasonable. If we can't find a place to watch that is fine - it isn't going to ruin anyones vaction!

I'm not sure what you mean by "just find someone with cable" - are you suggesting we ask to watch tv in someone's home? Nice idea if we find a like-minded 13 y/o living on St. John but I'm not sure too many others would be too excited to host us for American Idol... Now the Super Bowl, that's another story!

You might be surprised how many millions all over the world actually, are watching American Idol. Here in the islands there is an ongoing current attempt to pull off something called Shinning Stars...a Caribbean talent competition.

No campfires at Cinnamon Bay? Hmmmm, maybe, but I don't really know for sure.

One of the on-site managers at Cinnamon or surely someone would allow her to watch the show.

Nice to know families still get together as yours is.
