Plannning our first trip to STJ and am delighted to find this forum. We are scheduled to stay at Calypso Del Sol in
Chocolate Hole through Beachnuts Vacations. Has anyone stayed here or used this villa rental agency? Thanks in advance for your help

We are going the first of June, staying at Calypso. I was going to say, if you go earlier, I would really like to hear your repoprt on it. Looks like we'll be there the week before you.

This could be good, because we will probably have some good leftovers you can enjoy when you all get there.

Would you like to exchange e-mail addresses so we can talk about this? We did not rent it through the same people you used....interesting.

Hi there!
We had this villa booked for June 16-23 but had to cancel due to family health issues. Are either one of you there the week that we cancelled?? I am so jealous of you both. We were so looking forward to staying at this villa, but as I said my mom has some serious health issues right now and we didn't want to go too far away in case we were needed. We had booked through Vacation Vista's. Please let me know if either of you are booked for that week.

I'm really looking forward to hearing what you think about the villa as we hope to be able to book it for 2008.

Cliffnchristi-

We are actually renting June 16-23, so you should be getting a refund. I , too am sorry for your Mom's illness, and will
share our experience when we return. Bert, I would be happy to exchange emails.

I am excited for you! I just know you are going to have a blast and enjoy this villa. When did you book? We cancelled on the 3rd of January, I think. I look forward to hearing all about your vacation.

Hey Bert!
No, we haven't stayed there....yet. Hopefullywe'll get to in '08. This past June, we stayed just around the corner at Meritage. You start off on Chocolate East Road, but to get to Meritage, you turn off on Tamarind instead of staying straight to get to Calypso Del Sol. It's a wonderful area. I can't image that you're not going to love it. The pictures looks so inviting. I am digging the screened in porch and the AC throughout. Like I said, hopefully next year. Can't wait to see what everyone has to say about it....and again....I'm only "slightly" jealous!! LOL!

Hey since you have been to St. John before, which car rental co. is best? Is a 4 WD essential?

We used St. John Car Rental and really liked them. All of their vehicles are 4WD. In my opinion, you need 4WD, especially if you plan to do alot of exploring around the island. There are alot of hairpin turns and hills, not to mention unpaved roads.. I've read alot of positive comments on other car rental companies, too...Cool Breeze, Conrad Sutton. Also, you should do a daysail over to the BVI's. We went on the Calypso and loved it. I can give you phone numbers and the like if you need them. I'm certainly no STJ expert, only been there once this past year, but will be more than happy to share our experiences with you anytime. I can also send you some photos of the view from Meritage, which should pretty much be the same as Calypso Del Sol since they're just around the corner from each other. Just PM me with your email address and I will send you some pics.
