I see posts on cell phone use. We just returned a few days ago from the Virgin Islands. We bought a $5 phone card which said 1 cent per minute. I do not believe the 1 cent per minute by any means, but we called home many times using the same $5 and it was great. I suggest this for a way of calling back to the states.
Where did you purchase this phone card?? I think phone cards are the best option since my cell phone doesn't work in St. Thomas.
We were in KMart that was attached to a small mall. I was surprised to not find phone cards at KMart, but at the other end of this small mall there was a store with the phone cards. You'd think they'd be more readily found in the stores. It was a great inexpensive way to keep in touch - I recommend them!
Our cell phone - AT&T network - service said we'd have text messaging available, but the texting did not work. We made one phone call, but do not have the statement yet to see how much the call was. We have Cincinnati Bell in Ohio.
I am so glad to see this because that was our plan when we go in October. I definitely didn't want my husband to take his cell phone because he needs a break from work phone calls. I was just going to pick up a card at Wal-Mart, but I don't think they have anything that inexpensive!
In my experience, the toll free access # on calling cards from the Continental US don't work from STT. I always buy a calling card once I arrive in STT for those times I want/need to make a terrestrial call. Gourmet Gallery (Crown Bay Marina) has calling cards but you have to ASK for them. They don't have them out/available in plain sight. ...maybe theft avoidance.
I just returned Aug.22 from St. Thomas and I used my calling card purchased from Costco 2 or 3 times. It worked just fine and it only cost 2.85 cents per minute!
