Hi everyone,

Just thought I would pass this on again - sorry

I went over to STT today and caught the Red Hook ferry and noticed that there is a sign in the window stating the above - against my better judgement (I really do know better) I asked how long it may be down and was just given a shrug of the shoulders, so I am unsure at this time if is now in the "low season" mode or if there is a problem with the ferry itself.

It's the ferry from Charlotte Amalie to St. John. I was going to take it yesterday but I remembered a mention on this forum that it was down, so I called. Glad I did. This forum is great resource. Anyway, the person on the phone had no idea when the fery would be back. Moral: Always call and check times and service, especially fi you visit in the off-season.

Makes me glad that we have the Westin ferry available to us - even with its high cost.
It is hard to believe that they would shut down a ferry that is crucial transportation to those working on STJ and living on STT.

When you say CA do you mean the car ferry is closed? If so is there more than one car ferry? Thanks

Barbara, I don't think there is a car ferry in Charlotte Amalie. The car ferries run out of Red Hook to St. John and back again. I believe everybody is referring to the people ferry. They're both in Charlotte Amalie and in Red Hook.

That's correct: the CA ferry is people only, not car, and I think most working people use the Red Hook ferry.

According to an article on today's Source the Transportation Service's CA-STJ ferry is expected to be up and running by the end of this week with the Varlack Ventures ferry back in operation in a couple of weeks.

Just spoke with Kenrick Augustus of Transportation Services and he said they will start running again on Monday.
