Can you guys tell me who to use to go to The Baths on BVI? Perhaps sailing would be great or something that would get there us faster either from St. Thomas or St. John.

hi favislandstjohn, i have heard new horizons/breakaway charters are highly regarded. they go to 3 or 4 places in one day. including the baths, soggy dollar bar, and foxys bar. check it out at visitbreakaway.com or newhorizonscharters.com hope this helps, scooby p.s. they are the same company i believe.

I vote for New Horizons II, but you can also go with Limnos or Captain Nautica or Breakaway (all great trips). You might want to consider the ferry, as well.

New Horizons is a great recommendation. We've done the trip 6 times.

Another vote for New Horizons II.

We took the BVI trip with them to The Baths, Marina Cay, Guana Island for snorkeling & White Bay to Soggy Dollar Bar last April. That day was one of the highlights of our vacation. Breakaway is the same company. We saw that boat & much preferred ours. It was a fantastic trip & the boat is fast enough to be able to get to 4 stops. (Some of the slower boats can't do that.)

Don't pass up a Painkiller at Soggy's - my husband & I still dream of them!!!

Have fun!!

Very easy to make! Equal parts dark rum, OJ, pineapple juice, and add some Coco Lopez at 1:4 ratio. Pour over ice, garnish with grated nutmeg...ENJOY!!

Marty,

In case we don't make it to Soggy's on this next trip - is there a Painkiller on the island of St. John that can compare to Soggy's??

Also, any "must have" adult beverage recommendations on the island of St. John would be appreciated!

(On St. Thomas we had to have the Banana Daiquiri at Mountain Top & the Bushwacker at the top of the Tram. - And, of course, had to try the Painkiller at Soggy Dollar on Jost.)

P.S. Thanx for the recipe!

Sue-

Shipwreck Landing does a mean Bushwacker and they also have a really good Mango Daiquiri. They usually have a good variety of interesting "froofroo" drinks, but their Bushwacker was my favorite.

Most places have their own 'variations' of the popular drinks. I guess it's really a personal preference as to which is best.

Here's the base recipe for the Bushwacker:

Equal parts (1 oz.):
-Rum
-Vodka
-Bailey's
-Kaluah
-Amaretto
-Coco Lopez

Add ice and blend in blender. Top with grated nutmeg. For mine, I add equal (1 oz.) amounts of Frangelico and Chococo, too....oh! And gotta have whipped cream on there! And maybe a cherry?!?

They'll make a painkiller just about anywhere on St. John - the fun is trying to figure whose is the best. I'd tell you if I could remember; it's all a blur now... 😉
