I am chartering a boat in the BVIs and would like to spend a few days exploring St. John. Could you please advise me if I need to complete any type of cruising or moorings permit application in advance.

Also, I would very much appreciate any information and suggestions you might have on the process of clearing in/out of the BVIs/USVIs.

Thanks!

Rob: You'll have to check out of the BVI, probably at Jost Van Dyke or West End, Tortola. Then you have to check in at Cruz Bay, St John. It is highly recommended that you do not try to visit without the correct paperwork, as Homeland Security is not amused. Really.
