Just looking for anyones comments as to whether it is worth going to Virgin Gorda for the day. Can I really accomplish the same thing at all the beautiful beaches on St. John, or is it really worth my time to go there. Is it a must see? Any input will be helpful.

the baths are a great trip. the boat ride over is pretty cool and has some great scenery. we have done the baths twice and there is one thing worth knowing. the 1st time we went the waters were calm so they stopped and we swam in about 60 yards i think. the 2nd time we went we had to walk in through the woods. there is a path there but flipflops were not the best choice of footwear for this route. sunshine blew out a flipflop but didn't step on a poptop. so take proper walking shoes just in case. believe me we would have appreciated if they told us this. there are some pretty nice charter boats going to the baths so expect to pay about 120.00 including tip. counting down to oct 28 when we get married on st john. i'm a 46 year old guy getting married for the 1st time. i can't think of a better way to do it then on the beach. my only worry is staying sober until sundown. booze is cheap! i told friends back in ft worth texas that this was the 1st time i ever had to tell a bartender to not put so much alcohol in my drink. never thought i would have to say that anywhere. sorry i got so blabby. do the baths!

The Baths? Well I guess it depends upon how much time you have and what you want to do..We have spent a whole bunch of time in the BVI and the USVI. We have seen this and that and something more. The question is...if you are on a short term holiday how do you spend it.?? the trip from St Thomas to Virgin Gorda and back will take most of a day. You will see wonderful water and intriguing islands. It will be a one of a kind adventure. The baths are overrated and overused (cruise ships) but they are really unique.
You can have as much enjoyment on local beaches, but you can never tell your friends that you went to Virgin Gorda.. I am a believer in exploring and learning. If you have the time do it... b

Thanks so much for all the great input. Best wishes on your up coming marriage. I am a married gal for 32 years and we will be celebrating that lucky number on the 16th in St. John!!! Not a better place than the beach to begin your life together. Treat each other like gold and you will see 32 years too!!! Good luck.

Diane,

Have a great time on St. John. As for going to the Baths - it depends on you, its a nice day trip; I find it enjoyable, its a some what long day. If you have lots of time do it... but if its a short vacation then there is enough on St. John to keep you intrique and relaxed.
