Is it possible to buy whole fish right off the boat in STJ?
Gonn abe there for a week and would love to have some mahi, grouper,etc.....
Just buy them whole off the boat adn have them at the house.
Be sure to find "reputable" source..
Google ciguaterra for further info..
Some fish caught off St John may not be what you want to eat..
I agree the fresh is the best.
good luck
Hello jwterry3,
Not sure there is a regular time/day/place that fisherman sell their catch road side or dock side on St. John. Sometimes at the old car barge area in Cruz Bay there are some fishermen cleaning their catch, not sure if they are selling though. The fishing charters often sell their bigger catches to restaurants but will also sell roadside from their trucks if they have more fish after the restaurant sales. Again don't think its at any specific location on a regular basis. You might contact a few of the fishing charters and talk to them about it. Once on island you can follow up with them on the first day or two of your trip and see if they have any fish to sell, and where they will be selling that day.

If they are selling, you will usually find them near the old car barge/Nature's Nook area in Cruz Bay. In Coral Bay, there are a couple of spots, near Island Blues and across from Sweet Plantains. Look for someone with a scale and a cooler. They are catching Mahi like crazy right now... not sure when you are coming, but if it's soon, you could be in luck!
