We just returned from the St.Thomas. Someone at home had told me about the Bushwacker drink. She wasn't sure if you could just get it from any bar or if you had to go to the Bushwacker restaurant at the top of some mountain where the original cocktail was invented. We stayed at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef and to my delight, I was able to order the drink. However, they put something in there that felt like tiny wood pieces in my mouth. I was so busy spitting out that crap I couldn't enjoy the drink. Anybody know what they could possibly have put in there? The pieces were about the size of grated coconut but it was dark brown. Could it possibly have been bits of nutmeg? There was nutmeg already on top but they were just specks. Driving me nuts...
I'll hazard a guess that whoever was grating fresh nutmeg was using a cheese grater!
