Does anyone know if you can bring back alcohol from USVI to the states through security if you don't have a direct flight?? In Mexico we could bring it back in carry on ONLY if we had direct flgihts and bought it AFTER security in the duty free shops at the airport. Anything bought in town had to be checked. Even puchased at the airport and carried on, with the connections in Atlanta it meant we had to put it in checked luggage for the last leg of the flight before customs in Atlanta! NO ROOM! Is it different since the USVI is part of the states??

Back from St. John just last night into LAX. We bought our FIVE bottles at K-Mart (Cruzan only $2.89 a bottle!) and the guy from American Airlines MADE me go over to Duty Free to fill in that sixth bottle so there were no empty spaces in my six pack carrier. We wrapped each bottle in t-shirts (dirty laundry comes in handy) and had no problem. One warning: DO NOT buy Cruzan 151. They made me take it out of my pack because it is highly flammable and they won't ship it. Luckily, the duty free store happily exchanged my $9 bottle of liquor for a $3 bottle - as an even trade. Oh well, at least I didn't lose a full bottle of liquor. Call it a $6 mistake...

As a side note, I'd say I don't want to check this board anymore now that I'm home because it'll only make me sad I'm back. I'll probably cut way back, but until I'm planning the next vay-kay, I'm not going to be an avid poster anymore :*(

I definitely prefer Pusser's Painkillers for breakfast over raisin bran...

Bimini...no trip report for us? Or pics? Anything?

Everytime I buy Cruzan here, all I can think of is how cheap I can get it in the USVI's.

And how come you won't come here? It will make you sad? Come on, stay and enjoy it! We all want to go back asap. Start planning your trip now for next year!!

I bought 8 bottles of liquor at AHRiise ($68), and they were boxed in 2 "4-pack" boxes. One of the boxes of 4 didn't make it back. The day after we arrived home, someone from Continental called us to say that it had arrived broken. He said "no sense in delivering a bunch of broken glass". I wish I'd said - "deliver it anyway" just to make sure they were all broken. Oh well. So, 4 bottles of liquor cost me $68. Continental sent me a $50 voucher for the next time I fly with them in the next year - big deal. I've got 2 trips planned during the next year but both are with Delta.

anyhoo - had I removed each bottle and wrapped them in bubble wrap and repacked them, they probably would've made it OK. I'll know NEXT TIME!! 🙂

Connie -

I'm posting a new thread with the trip report. I can't stay away from this board! Can't wait to hear from Coco-de-mer when she returns!
