I went down by Bavoni on the way to Shipwreck for my friday half price hamburger and I noticed some work around the bridge to no where. The plan is to make this a full intersection with a light. The wall around the gas station was torn down partly and the there was some grading going on around the bridge.

So it seems that that the bridge will finally serve its purpose but it seems to me that the grade is pretty high so there will need to be lots of fill brought in.

Wow, the bridge to nowhere is actually gonna get used? AMAZING!
And yes, this is where they should put the harbor sludge!

Amazing that so many longtime residents fail to stay abreast of t'ings. The bridge to nowhere has been a laughing stock for several years. If progress is now being made (and I recall that it was mentioned in a recent Daily News article) then it behooves those who mock it to stand up.

i don't have a link to the story online, but i believe that this is part of a bypass project to relieve congestion on the weymouth rhymer highway to people headed east. nice to know they finally are connecting those dots!

The plan is to make this a full intersection with a light.

Lately it seems to me like the VI has gotten federal money that can only be used for traffic lights, and that unlike annual school funds, the VI is loathe to see any of this earmarked money go to waste.

I'm not sure how much money is flowing to the USVI. The money to do this may be part of a federal highway fund, and the stimulus plan. Actually the VI got much more than it should have based on their population of 120,000. This is a moderate town in the main land. Islander's don't know, or refuse to open their minds, on how much money is coming down to us. Without the Fed money we would be in pretty bad shape.

As far as this is part of a bigger plan I really doubt it. Although the intersection at the bridge to no where has some congestion it is far, far from the congestion of Rapune hill.

But every project improves the island, I think!!!

The project is for a raised road towards Bolongo at the height of the bridge due to flooding. On the ex-gas station end of the bridge, the road is supposed to loop around and taper down to the existing roadway, believe it or not.

I assumed that it was that high for flooding. But it semms far to high in the houses down stream would need to be totally under water. But what do I know!

Glad to see that it is getting done.
Now to Rapue hill, the biggest traffic problem on STT!
