We're catching the first flight of the day from STX to STT on Monday the 29th. We have a rental car waiting at the airport and will be heading to RH to catch the ferry to STJ. We have a dingy reserved at Noah's for 9:00. If we don't make the 8:00 ferry we'll have breakfast in RH. But if we can make the 8:00 boat we'll need a recommendation for where to get breakfast and sandwiches for lunch in Cruz Bay. We prefer some place close to the dock because Mama's knee is acting up.
Thanks to all you STJ experts.

I am going to try Deli Grotto which comes highly recommended on the other forum. They are supposed to have great sandwiches and treats!

I agree with Deli Grotto. We just got back from the island and we made several stops there during our visit for snacks and sandwiches.

I really love Deli Grotto, but I would say that Mojo Cafe is my favorite place for breakfast. They are right there around the corner from the ferry dock, on the way to Noah's, so it's super easy. Deli Grotto is in Mongoose Junction, a further walk, much harder for Mama's aching knee! Also right by the ferry dock is JJ's. They are in the 'park', and have a full menu and table service. Mojo and Deli Grotto are both counter service with tables to sit and eat at. Mojo is outside, Deli Grotto has indoor seating with A/C and also tables outside.

We have had breakfast a number of times at JJ's Texas Coast Cafe which is in the small park right past the ferry dock. They make a great breakfast. I prefer their pancakes while my wife loves their omelets.

Love Mojo 🙂 JJ's is also good but several friends have eaten there in the last few weeks and it has taken up to 45 min+ to get their food - Mojo is super fast and super good 🙂

Thanks to all.
I had done some research and was looking at JJ's but had seen other reports that they can be slow. Thanks for the confirmation, Pia. But Mojo sounds like it really fits the bill. See you (me, actually) on the spice cam on the 29th.

Walk straight off the ferry and JJ TExas Toast will be right there in front of you. Walk up to the bar and eat breakfast there. The best!
Waiter service takes longer.

For Deli Grotto walk left to MOngoose Junction. Deli Grotto has sandwiches, wraps and picnic stuff to go too.

Moj is great, indeed, but I love JJ's. Great food, and delicious Bloody Mary's. 45 minutes is a bit long to wait, but I never had that problem, thank God! Besides, just easier to ooze into Island Time, and enjoy another bloody!
Smiles-

Yes I agree MJ on the 45 min wait, but I believe they have new staff that definitely are working on "island time" (and 45 mins was with one other table) I hope they are getting better now we are heading into high season.

Normally I don't care if I have to wait when on island and have no hard schedule. BUT, I will be hustling to make the 8 am ferry. I've got a hot dingy waiting for me at 9:00. I'd rather have a relaxed breakfast at Mojo's. I'll get to JJ's an other time.

Hey Bassman

Do call and confirm your dinghy when you get to Red Hook or when you arrive on STJ - no dinghy's right now due to the high swells and rough water 🙁 I'm sure all will be well by Monday but Christmas winds have come early and boy is it rough right now - you might be able to have a JJ breakfast after all.
