Anyone have any suggestions of where to watch the Michigan Alamo Bowl game on the 28th? Or any other UM fans going to be there to watch?

I'm not a sports fan at all, despite being born and raised in the Boston area, but everyone on this board talks about Skinny Legs in Coral Bay. We went there last month on our last vacation to STJ and its a true sports bar only with no walls like at home. They had TVs and it seemed like game watching was the #1 activity. There were also a couple of TVs at the Beach Bar in Cruz Bay along the waters edge so maybe they would play this game.

If you guys are all nice and look real close at section 28 I'll raise the sign that says HI STJ

And the temp at game time is suppose to be 84 degrees.

Rose Bowl?!?!?
M*ch*g*n?!?!?!

As for me...
I'd have to raise my Hi StJ sign from the Fiesta Bowl, you won't be able to miss me - I'll be the big guy in the Ohio State shirt sitting near the band... 😉

Two trips on the books, one to Tempe in about a week, and one to StJ in June... looking forward to both...

I always admire the tuba player.....gotta be one of the most difficult positions in that marching band.

I always enjoyed the Pac 10 / Big 10 rivalry until the BCS stuck its fat face into the picture.

Well, here's one Trojan wanting to see you guys slap around those Domers. Oh, if you want to p*** them off, try a little late 4th quarter push, LOL when they've thought they've won.

Fight on and beat the longwhorns

But for a late push by Texas and a slow offensive showing against Penn St, we might've been headed for the Rose Bowl to take on USC. Couple of plays over the course of the season... Coulda woulda shoulda...

My son the tuba player tentatively has 2 more years in band, and is REALLY hoping that one of them might be a Rose Bowl game, mostly because he thinks it would be cool to have a free trip to California and get to play there, though the implied Big Ten title wouldn't be bad either!

For the record, the tubas they use weigh 44 lbs., and if you look close you'll see the uniforms are basically suit and tie, not lightweight. Those guys are wiped OUT after a game in the heat. Band members and hopefuls, especially the bigger instruments, spend the summer practicing and conditioning, the athletic side of marching/playing is not often appreciated. Members must try out every year, for every 6 on the field there is 1 alternate who is challenging every week, all music is memorized, there are music checks and uniform inspections every performance; it's VERY demanding and competitive. During the season, they put in 10-15 hours of practice a week, and must be ready to go 6 hours before a game (yes, noon games mean these college students get up at 4:30-5:00 AM). The year after beating Miami in the Festival Bowl, 4 tubas players graduated, and 36 applied to take their place. All those things add up, and that's why it's TBDBITL!

They do a private get together late in the season with the football team, who never gets to see script Ohio during the season, and one of the things they do is pair off with a player and the player gets to march the script with direction from the band member. This year he said his player offered to give him back the tuba halfway through, said he was getting tired, had no idea it was so much work!

Oh well, enough band stuff, probably not many here interested in all that...

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all, and may all your sports teams do well! Obviously not everybody can win on the field, but as we say, the band ALWAYS wins... 😉

irbgolfin - looking forward to the Fiesta Bowl this year, watching my kid dot the i in a couple of years, and in June, a lazy day snorkeling at Cinammon Bay, followed by lunch at Island Blues, an afternoon at the pool, a cold drink in hand while cooking a steak overlooking the Caribbean... Life is good! 😉
