Can you drink the water at the resorts & *-)restaurants? Is bottle water expensive to buy?

The potable water at resorts and restaurants is, by law, tested monthly for contaminants. That said, I own a restaurant and do NOT serve tap water or drink it myself because I don't care for the taste. I don't drink the tap water at restaurants which serve it either for the same reason - it has a sort of a "dank" taste. Bottled water of all kinds and sizes is available everywhere and varies in price. My preference is Dasani and a case (#24) of 20 oz bottles runs 11.99 - 12.99. There are also potable water "refill stations" at some supermarkets where you can fll your own gallon/5 gallon jugs at a reasonable price. Hope this wasn't too long-winded and that it helps. Cheers!

I don't drink any water that doesn't come out of a bottle or from a water machine. at 60 cents a gallon why take a chance.

Do you know where 98% of the bottled water comes from right out of the tap with no more filtering. If it is a public water supply in the US there isn't anything to worry about and less that goes in the land fill. Now villa water that is different most cisturns are not taken care of and the roof that the water comes from has birds flying over.

Buy a case of bottled water and then a couple gallons. Freeze your water bottles and save a few to refill with the gallons you buy.

I don't drink tap water even at home.

You also have the option of drinking rum because it's cheaper then water 🙂

Wow, 13.00 dollars for a case of Dasani. Now I do not feel so bad about paying 5.00 for a case of Dasani. 🙂

We always buy bottled water. It is more expensive than on the mainland. But when you're spending thousands of dollars for airfare, accomodations, jeep rental, food, drink, sunblock------water is not where I try to cut costs.

Lex, you're right and I think that we paid more then 13.00 at Marina Market, but that's one of the first things on our list to pick up when we get there. Multiply that by the 9 people that were with us and it's pretty steep, but necessary.

We stayed at a private villa on St. John. I developed digestive "issues" about 5 days in. I drank a lot of tap water. I did get tested when we returned home and the results were negative to any extra intestinal passengers, however my doctor said that sometimes ones body just has a hard time adjusting to the water. I guess this was the case, because after being home for 5-6 days I felt fine. I will drink bottled water next time.

kacot, the best thing to do is always drink bottled water. I even drink bottled when I go to Florida. It's just not worth ending up sick on vacation.
