I appologize from the beginning, we've never been to VI and as much as I lurked the boards I still have q's.

We booked kind of last minute at Sapphire Village Resort and I found a grand total of 3 reviews on the net - none extremely detailed. I'd much appreciate any details of the hotel and area. Unfortunately our room will be island view and I understand that's not a good thing, but other than that? Is it easy to walk into town? Any supermarkets in the vicinity?

What to do for New Year's Eve? Any beach parties?

I made reservations for airport pick-up and I have a feeling that is more expensive than a cab ($31/pp rt). Should I live with it or try to cancel?

Guys, I hope you I did not annoy you too much. Thanks in advance.

INDiGO is at Magens Point Resort, which is 340-777-6000. If they can't transfer you (which happens a lot due to the antiquated phone system), you can call them direct at 340-776-0474. They don't open until 11 a.m. AST, and I might already be at the beach for the get together. If I don't answer again, give them a call, ask for Kirsty, tell her that I told you to call, and she can get you all the info you need....shes's one of the owners.

Thanks again, Marty.
I called and Kirsty wasn't there but I was told that the menu is not up yet, they're still working on it and they might have it in a day or two. I'll call back and see.

Hope you guys had a great get-together!

Cherie,

Try Budget Rentals. Hubby and I are visiting STT in January. I reserved a Chevy Cavalier for $149.00 fpr a week.. I believe there is a link to their website somewhere on VINOW homepage. If not ask Marty or Islander.

Thank you Tam, but Budget called me yesterday to let me know that they don't have any cars available. It's because of the holidays, I guess. I'll try again when we get there.

Islander, the link you provided is what I used the first time and I got no answer from them. I went through another website that links to Budget (however, a totaly different web design and reservation request form - http://www.st-thomascars.com/ ) and they called in less then 12 hours. I also tried budget.com and they quoted almost $280 for 3 days for a mid size.

have you tried any of the stt car rental agencies? we've had good experience with Dependable.
be sure to try the sandwiches at the Marina Market deli at Red Hook--they are very tasty.
sapphire beach is one of the prettier beaches on stt, and also offers good snorkeling. magens is probably the most scenic, but snorkeling there is below par. however, better snorkeling at secret harbor, just a couple of miles away from sapphire, and seldom very crowded--unlike magens, coki and sometime sapphire. coki is arguably the best snorkeling on stt, but often very crowded.
sapphire has a large beachside bar that is very nice.

I just booked through Expedia for Avis, airport pick-up. Cheap, $177/wk, but I'll loose those $62 for the airport pick-up LOL
Anyways, it comes cheaper that $55/day so I guess it's all good. Guys, I'm so excited that I don't feel like going to work these last days. But I have to, right? 😉

Oh, and I was really busy today and by the time I remembered to call Indigo it was midnight. I'll call tomorrow for sure.

Hi cherie, my boyfriend and I are also staying at Sapphire Village. We're only staying there two nights, though - Checking in Dec. 30th, checking out on Jan. 1st. Then we're heading over to St. Croix where my mother lives (and where I grew up). I'm pretty nervous about this place too, since it was a last minute booking and I don't know much about it. We are planning on going to Jost for New Years Eve but have no clue about the ferries and the special schedule. Does anyone in here know about this or where I can get info on the special New Years Eve Jost ferries? I saw info about Inter-Island ferries but that only had two departures per day to Jost - I heard there is a ferry running all night? Any info would be great! And maybe I'll see you guys on St. Thomas! 🙂

Hi, Lindy
Islander just posted the Jost ferry schedule for the New Year (Thank you, Islander)

We still didn't make up our minds if we'll stay on St. Thomas or we'll go to Jost for the party. But I hope to see you around, too. And I hope it's not going to be at the "complaints desk" LOL
I'm sure it will be fine. How bad can paradise be?

Indigo update: the owners were not there and the staff still didn't have any info re: New Years menu or prices. Once again I'll call back tomorrow.
