Hi!! I sincerely appreciate everyone's help so far. I am still researching and trying to determine exactly how long we want to stay on each island.
My question is: What are the best beaches for boogie boarding on St. Thomas, St. John, and Tortola?
Thank you for your help, everybody!!
agapotravel,
I have forgotten when you are coming down! The best time for things like this is when we have had a cold front come down and there are lots of waves due to the cold front! (starting end of November). For STT, Hull Bay, Morning Star Beach @ Frenchman's Reef, Sapphire.........really most any of them! You really need that cold front in order to get the waves here!!! That fact would include all of the above mentioned Islands! 🙂
Thanks sherri~~~
We will be coming in July.....are you saying that the waves are non-existent then? I will love that, but my husband really wants to boogie board. 🙂
Really no surf to speak of on STJ---except for a few rare, weather-related days. Definitely not a surfing or boogie boarding destination. Most beaches are very calm---and excellent for snorkeling. One of the great features of STJ is how much good snorkeling there is right off the beach.
PR would be a better destination for boogie boarding - world class surfing in fact, Jobos Beach and the town of Rincon have staged world championships.
Boogie Boarding can be good at Cinnamon Bay on St. John. Especially in the winter.
cybergreg,
Thanx for sharing your pics.! I too, have an awesome picture of a friend standing at Cinnamon Bay with the wave directly OVER her head!!! They can get big! 🙂
My point exactly, winter time is the perfect time for boogie boarding!
Doesn't matter is it is STT, STJ, or STX!!!!
As Lex wrote, July is much quieter time for waves!
Thanks, everyone! I love the pictures, CyberGreg! It looks like my husband won't be boogie boarding on this trip. At least I have awhile before I have to tell him. hee hee
There are always a few people boogie boarding at Morningstar beach (at the Marriott) in St. Thomas. I'd try there.
