Isn't the beach there not as great as some of the others?

The beach is beautiful to look at, not perfect for swimming - a little rocky getting into the water. Fair for snorkeling. It is a nice budget resort though with nice restaurants and fun pool. And if you want to lay on the beach and sun it is beautiful.

We plan to visit the Bolongo Bay Resort in February and have heard very good things...especially about their restaurants. I am wondering if it is best to stay in the condo units rather than the regular rooms? We enjoy having the luxury of our own kitchen unit. Is the BEACH any better where the condo units are that Bolongo Bay owns?
And, how close are they to Iggie's & The Beach House?

Hi There,

From what I remember, the condo units are actually next door at the Watergate. There is no beach there. But it's only a short walk past Iggies. I for one think the beach at Bolongo is pretty nice. Other than a little rocky entrance, it's a pretty nice one.

The condos at the Watergate vary in quality. Some are OK others a little tired. It is a very short walk to the beach.

Ingrid:

IMHO the beaches on the East End are better. There are several condos on the East End too. We visited (and even purchased one) at Point Pleasant Resorts. Sapphire Beach is another nice place.

Have a great trip!

The wife and I stayed at the Bolongo Bay back in Feb. and it was wonderful.

The rooms were very clean, the food at the Beach House restaurant was great, and the staff was very friendly. The beach is nice, but a little rocky. It was very quiet and relaxing staying there. They also have a beach bar called Iggie's and the food was ok, but the drinks and the view was awesome.

They have alot of activates there too, so if you want to do anything from snorkling, to scuba diving, to a sunset cruise on there very own 55 foot cat. sailboat, you can do it all from there.

Or you can sit back and do nothing at all.

It is not a huge place, but that is what we look for when on vacation.

We plan on coming back again in Feb., and can not think of anywhere else we would want to stay.

Hi Ingrid,

Sorry it took so long to respond.

I think Bolongo is a good choice for you. A nice, beachfront resort with good food and relatively close to both downtown and Red Hook.

Other places I also consider that IMO fall into the same category are Secret Harbour, Sapphire, & Morningstar. Each has good and not so good points, but I have stayed at all and really enjoy them all. Would return to any of them.

I guess if you could outline more of what you want or don't want in a resort, I could give you more specific information.
