Has anyone ever gone for this? Is the food good? I've got some picky eaters. We'd have to take the car ferry over from St. John so I want to make sure this is worth it.
toledo: Do you know that the car ferry doesn't run at night?
Thanks, East Ender. I was going to check on that next. We'd have to take the passenger ferry and taxi so now I really need to know if it's worth it.
And it looks like passenger ferries end early, too.
Well to answer your question I think Carnival night is fun, always a great party atmosphere. Now do I think its worth it for the added $100 to get over on the ferry and taxis, etc etc... Probably not. Iggies regular menu is still available for your picky eaters, although its a good chance to try a variety of foods and expose them to something else other than pasta and tomato sauce. But they have a glass/fire walker, moko jumbies dancing around, so its good for partying and for families.
The last passenger ferry from Red Hook to Cruz Bay is midnight.
Go to Iggies!
Hey, you're on vacation and I think it will be worth the extra expense for the experience. Plus, you'll be able to ride the ferry at night! Its great ride, in the darkness, looking up at the stars with the wind blowing!
Iggies has good food - try the johnny cakes!
I think its location right on the beach is fantastic! Better than the few beach bars I went to on STJ, although I'm not too familiar with the coral bay area......
I actually haven't been there for the carnival, but we witnessed the all you can eat crab and karaoke night a few times and had a blast!
We did the carnival night in Dec, but we were staying right there at Watergate & ferrying to STJ most days. Most nights we spent at Iggies. I did enjoy their food -from the menu. They had a stilt walker, fire-eater & local crafts. Dancing went on most of the night. All of this is on the beach & you can watch it while you eat. Lots of kids were there having a great time...Not sure I would spend all that time and money though.
Well, thanks everyone. I didn't think I was going to get any feedback on this one. How about if we take the car ferry over and drive to Bolongo and back to Red Hook? Could we leave it in Red Hook over night and take the passenger ferry back to St. John? I guess that would still be $100 to get all 5 of us there and back.
