We always take the New Horizons II daysail out of Sapphire Marina. It is closer to a full day and they take you to a couple of nice places to snorkel and also feed you a plentiful lunch (Italian) and all you can drink. As for a 1 year old, I don't know if I would take a child that young on a sail boat for the day. If the child is having a bad day it can quickly ruin a boat full of people's day that they just paid good money for. Don't mean to sound anti-child but rather I tend to be considerate of others around me.

Hello Paul,

I second New Horizons -- I am going to check and see if they have age restrictions... and whether they have had kids on board and their experiences with sailing all day. Lots of families here that have kids and boats have their children on the boats from very young - sometimes less then 1years old... some even live on boats so the kids are on board right from the start - talk about true sea legs. LOL... so I am sure you can manage with your son... bring snacks, his blanket or whatever else he requires, use baby sunblock and you guys should have a great day. If the charters that take larger groups out don't seem like a good idea for your family there are smaller charters that take out 6 people, lets see how New Horizons answers -- I will let you know what I find out.

Paul,

New Horizons says they take out families all the time, folks with kids, little kids, big kids - no problem. If your son needs a nap - he can nap inside or in the shade on deck. I think it would be good for your whole family - half day is good, your wife shouldn't miss out on it and your son should be fine. The sailing is amazing on the waters around here and the locations are great. Will follow up with snorkeling spots info.

Paul, got through e-mailing New Horizons... their email is

[email protected]

Here is what I got for you:

"This time of year, New Horizons is only offering full day snorkel trips. We
anchor in 6 1/2 feet of water typically along the coast shore. We bring a
little boat with us, so if the guests would like a ride to the beach to
start snorkeling , NO problem. Furthermore, we have floating devises such
as jackets and noodles."

Call 800-808-7604 they can answer all your questions.
