I WILL BE IN ST. THOMAS IN MAY AND WOULD LIKE TO RENT A BOAT LARGE ENOUGH FOR 8 PEOPLE TO TAKE ON A DAY TRIP TO ST. JOHN'S TO DO SOME SNORKELING. DOES ANYONE HAVE A SUGGESTION ON A FIRM THAT THEY MIGHT RECOMMEND. (WOULD PREFER TO CAPTAIN THE BOAT OURSELVES)
THANKS!
LEE
I am looking to do the same in April for a family of 4. It would be nice to get some insider information.
I have never delt with them personally, but the Whitbeck family owns and operates the Allura, a sailing catamaran. They work in St. Thomas and St. John. The boat was built by 3 brothers and one is the captain. They have a website that tells about it and what services they offer. They seem like a neat family and they are used by several resorts including Maho Bay. Again, I have never delt with them, just thought I would pass on what I have seen.
You can cut and paste this into your browser.
If you want to rent a boat you can try Sea and Ski, Naughti Nymph or one of the other places in American Yacht Harbor. You can go talk to them and inspect their boats when you get here.
Check out the following under St. Thomas Activities - For a "private excursion" Waters Edge Sports for Powerboat Rentals of various sizes with or without Captains and Glory Charters for organized trips with a Captain and mate.
If you are intersted in sailing and going with a group Morningstar Charters, Jester, etc. have links from the vinow.com activities section.
Even on Nauti Nymph's largest,, a twin-engine 29' boat, the maximum number of people on board is limited to six. Don't know about the other power boat rentals mentioned.
Boats are licensed for either six or multi pack. You can go with a larger group or rent multiple boats.
