I am looking for a sailboat charter for 7 days with a captain. It would be for 2 people and we are flying into St Thomas. We'd like to sail around the islands. I'd appreciate any recommendations or suggestions. Anything we should watch out for?
Chris:
Try BVI Yacht Charters in Tortola. You may be able to charter a boat even this late....but the cost will probably exceed $5,000. for the week (including the boat, captain, insurance, provisioning).

You are cutting it close. Most boats are booked way in advance. But you might want to talk to a yacht charter broker like Ellen Stewart: http://www.stewartyachtcharters.com/.
There are some term charter options listed at https://www.vinow.com/usvi/yacht.php.

We booked out time last August, but you might find someone that has that time slot open. Wish I had known sooner, we could have hitched up with you. Our time is in Feb.
I just got back from an interline sail (w/ capt larrry & betty fries on forever young) for a couple of days over new years and was more than happy w/ boat, crew and provisions(google "interline sails,usvi")... great time! I booked this on a referal !!! thanks Jay!
