Heading to STJ for a week in late April and will have a pretty large group for much of the week. We were looking at excursions to JVD and possibly the Baths. Our excursion group would likely be 6+ and possibly up to 12+. We looked at Daydreamer and some others, but were wondering whether we should just charter our own boat? Who should we talk to about this and is this a better option? We really don't want to be crowded onto the Daydreamer, but we don't want to be crammed onto a little boat either.

Thoughts? Options? Opinions?

Any thoughts as to sailing vs. motor? I get the feeling from reading here that while sailing is quaint (and I much prefer it if all else is equal), it isn't really practical for a day trip around the islands most of the time.

Thanks in advance.

Check out borntorhumb.com. Captain Kevin can take up to 12 passengers. We have spent the day with him for the past 2 years and looking forward to doing it again in a month!!! Absolutely great!!

I second Born to Rhumb for a group that big. Not many boats are setup for a private group bigger than 6. The Captain has a great reputation.

Cheers, RickG

Thanks for the info!

As a follow-up, is it practical and enjoyable to hit JVD, the Baths, and snorkel around STJ all in one boat trip?

Based on my reading, it seems that if I want to drop one, JVD would be it. Anyone have an opinion? Are there restaurants to eat at around the Baths in VG?

Thanks again!

It would be one heck of a day. Definitely a lot of boat time (MOTOR not Sail)
You may want to look into Magic Moments through Nauti Nymphs if you want to try all of it in a day.

We got a nauti nymph and did Baths, Indians, Willy Ts in a day and that was a full day.
Then we caught the ferry from STJ to JVD on Saturday. I think it only runs on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from STJ to JVD

If you are planning to spend the day at the Baths I would pack a lunch.
