This will be my first stay at Bluebeard's Castle Beach REsort. Have stayed many times at Frenchman's Reef though. My question is Getting to Town from the beach resort. While at Frenchman's we always used the Shuttle Boat, and loved not having to take taxi's. We sometimes walked to the Havensight Mall for Breakfast and then continued our walk to town. Great walk, but we took the shuttle boat back always.

Any chance of walking from the Bluebeard's Beach resort? Once you reach the Havensight Docks, there are sidewalks and the walk becomes a snap. I just don't know what the road is like from Bluebeards's Beach Resort to Havensight Docks.

Any words of wisdom on Bluebeard's Beach resort? I am using a timeshare exchange, that is why I am going there instead of Frenchman's Reef.

Hi Morinagirl,

Even though Bluebeard's Beach Resort is the next resort over from the Marriott's, roadwise it's quite a distance. I cannot conceive of walking to town or Havensight from there. It would definitely be quite a hike. We always rent a car, finding it much more convenient and cost effective than using taxis.

I am an owner at Bluebeard's Beach Club and love my little piece of paradise. I never exchange out of it and have been returning for 8 years, most recently about a month ago.

It's much much different from the Marriott's. They are big chain resorts with that big chain resort feel, offering lots of on-site activities and restaurants. The Beach Club is very small in comparison, with only 74 units right on the beach. The feel of the place is very quiet, very private.

It has a pool with a pool bar run by the one small restaurant on the premises. The beach is great, and it's often that we might be the only ones on it or swimming in the magnificent water. There's ample snorkeling, but certainly not the best on the island. Just enough to make it interesting. There's a rather large resident baracuda around the rocks on the right. He or she is a harmless creature who just seems to be very nosy.

There are grills for guest use and a shuffleboard court. The Beach Shack is rarely open, apparently there aren't enough folks who stay at the resort to warrant the company paying for staffing. There is also a small store on the grounds.

There are three different types of units--studio, loft studio and one-bedroom. All units have "kitchenettes" with fridges, stovetops, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and enough supplies for at least 4 guests. The one-bedroom units have one and a half baths.

I could go on and on, but I won't. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask or send me a private message.

The resort isn't everyone's cup of tea, so to speak, but I love it and hope you have a great stay there as well.

Gerie

Don't evenb think of walking to town! No sidewalks until you get to Havensight, and I would be bushed just from walking up the hill from the beach to the road! Haha! I was the Sales Manager at the Beach Club up till about 3 years ago and they used to have a free shuttle to The Castle, The Elysian and to Charlotte Amalie. Our members/exchangers would utilize the free shuttles to get around and then pay taxis or walk. Like needing to go to Red Hook from the Beach Club? They would ride the Shittle to The Elysian, but have the driver stop at the corner and let them out so they could walk the 500 yards to Red Hook. But there may have been changes to the free shuttle shcedule, so you might want to inquire about that first. However, I would highly recommend renting a car for the week. Taxis can get mighty pricey, since they charge per PER PERSON,per destination. Book Budget on-line and you will save money and be able to pick it up at the airport. The island is very easy to find your way around...just stay left!! If you have any specific questions, feel free...

Thanks Marty, I appreciate the insite.
I guess it was just wishful thinking that we would be able to walk to town. I know what you mean about those hills, we walked DOWN the one from Frenchman's Reef several time, but only walked up it once.

We really do enjoy walking along the waterfront from Havensight to town and with all the traffic on the road these days, sometimes I think it was faster.

My husband really isn't comfortable driving there and I am not comfortable with taking taxi's. So Frenchman's was an idea situation for us. Guess he will just have to bite the bullet and drive this time.

Thanks again. Anna
