looking for any info on bluebeard's castle hotel. will be there 6/9-6/16/07. meeting up with friends who own bar/restaurant on the island. got a great deal from providence (instead of boston) for solo traveler and i'm looking for any input on the hotel, etc. heard the hotel privelges extend to their beach club and the elysian and there is free shuttle service??? this trip will involve alot of r&r - just looking to relax by the pool (or beach) for the week with some cold drinkies, good food, music and people, and do some day trips to stj and bvi.

We stayed her for one night on April 28th before traveling to St. John the next day. For a more affordable place to stay, I thought this was a good option. They have options for eating and drinking on site that provided good food and drinks. The pool was actually pretty with a nice view. The rooms are a little worn, but were clean enough and in working order. The staff seemed to follow up on issues and treated guests with decent service. It's not a top of the line hotel, but it's a decent option for a traveler on a budget. Just make sure to get out and about to the beach!

Just returned from a week at the Castle on Saturday, stayed in Hiltop II on the 4th floor. Had a great view and was just a few steps away from the pool. Miss Rose makes a great little breakfast in the pool side cafe/bar, gets there around 8:00 AM. You have to go to Coki beach, should be able to get a taxi. Be prepared to snorkle, the beautiful tropical fish will come right up to you, it's great! The hotel is in litagation right now trying to get back literally millions of dollares a past management company reportedly stole from the property. It will be in court soon and hopefully wil end with a judgement in favor of the resort. Much is in disrepair but it's still a great little place to serve as a home base while on the island. You're really close to downtown and a lot of fun places to eat and drink.

I think it bares mentioning that at one time Bluebeards Castle was THE place to stay in the Virgin Islands. Back decades ago famous film stars and politicialns stayed there. It's glory days have surly faded but you can kind of feel what it must have once been like. It's one of my very favorite places around. Have a great trip and I'd love to get your feedback once home again.

does the hotel have towels for the pool and at their beach club or should i bring my own? also, can you bring beers/drinks with you to the pool/beach in a small cooler or do they frown on that and want you to buy from their own bar/restaurant? 18 more days..........

You are provided beach towels (blue and white stripped) at the Castle, as many as you need as often as you like as long as you return the dirty ones for clean. They DO frown on you bringing your own drinks to the pool for the reason you mentioned and glass of any type for safety reasons. Have a great trip!

Hi Rizzle:

I stayed at the Castle during Easter Break. I had a great time and the room was nice, although, last years room was even better. If you want to avoid the stairs, ask for one of the rooms in the 300 range (302- 315). They're right on the lower parking lot with easy access to the walkway and hallway to the room. Just roll your luggage right in. If you want better views, than ask for the upper rooms which start off in the 100's.

For the beach days, they have a shuttle to Bluebeard's Beach Resort which is right up the road, but not within walking distance, so don't try it. If you have a car try Megan's Bay beach, Bolongo Beach, Coki Beach, Elysian Beach and the beach by the University of St. Thomas. All are beautiful. Please remember, driving is on the left.

Well, have a great trip, and don't forget to step in my footprints!
