We're going to be staying at Bluebeards beginning 3/17 with 2 18 yr old boys (young men??)...It's my son's graduation trip.

While they think they are tough cookies, they are far from it, and we'd rather them stay within the grounds. From what I've read etc it seems that Bluebeards Beach club will be pretty far away from everything therefore keeping them on the grounds?

Can anyone give me info?

Eighteen is the legal drinking age here so alcohol will be easy for them to access. You may prefer to keep a close eye on them if they are not accustomed to drinking alchohol and opt to do so because the majority of tourists who encounter trouble here do so while inebriated.

Nah, I'm not worried about that so much as them being able to wander around - they aren't the partying kind of kids...

I know my husband and I went to Puerto Vallarta in August and the resort we stayed at was quite a ways from "town" so it would be ideal at night for the kids to be able to roam "on grounds" and not actually be out and about.

I hope that makes more sense...?

That's a bit way too far for them to wander into town. As a family, you might want to go to Bolongo which is a short taxi ride away for some of their special nights like all you can eat crablegs, etc.

As stated, Bluebeard's Beach Club is remote. To get to the main road that will take you to other parts of the island you must drive up a long steep hill. If they are 18 I assume they won't be driving and therefore would have to walk up that hill. That in itself would be exhausting.

Please realize that not only is the resort remote, it is very small and very quiet. There's not much for them to do in the evenings at the resort. There's the beach, the pool, some shuffleboard, some video games (it they're working) a restaurant that closes about 9 pm. Their best hope for nighttime fun is if there are other guests with teens around their ages with whom they can connect.

I second the recommendation for Iggies, the next resort to the east and not too far a drive. I also think they might enjoy an evening in Red Hook at Duffy's or perhaps Molly Malone's. You could go as a family or let the guys take a cab there and back. Red Hook should be fine for them at 18.

You'll also be there at the time of the St. John Blues Festival beginning March 21. You might consider an evening or two over there for what should be some very good music. You can find out more about the festival here:

Have fun!

Great - that's what I was looking for...

I don't think I was wording my question correctly. We plan to go into town at night with them (with a watchful eye)...but when we got back I was hoping (that's mom for ya) that there wouldn't be much around and they'd be forced to play cards/playstation etc to keep themselves busy.

We plan to wear 'em out during the day...

Thanks for the recommendations!!!
