Hello,

I will coming to St. Thomas in late December, staying at the Blue Beard Villas, not Blue Blue Beard Castle on the hill. Anybody out there know anything about the accommodations there. I heard it was under new management. Also, would like to know the popular spots singles.

Are you talking about Bluebeard's Beach Club? Have they changed their name?

I used to be the sales manager at Bluebeard's Beach Club & Villas, on Limetree Beach in St. Thomas. It was bought by Bluebeard's back in the 90's, and has undergone numerous different renovations, especially since Fairfield took over a couple years ago, and there are still some to come. The two buildings nearest to the beach (A & B) are different than the other 5 facing the beach. A little bit older, but still nice. The restaurant is under new ownership, and they are doing a great job...about time, too! The beach is still on the rocky side, but you can still get in. The pool is right next to the beach and has a swim up bar...who needs saltwater?!? Haha! They have free shuttle service between the Beach Club and Bluebeard's Castle and The Elysian. That'll help save on taxi fares.

BB,

I've stay at Bluebeard's Beach Club every summer since 1997. I love the resort and eagerly anticipate my stay each year. The resort is rather small, rather quiet on, what I consider a great beach. I only use the pool to rinse off after spending the day in the wonderful salt water, but will always go hang out at the pool bar in the afternoon chatting with Jeff, the bartender there. Marty mentioned some of the highlights of the resort. One thing that's changed (among several) since he worked there is that there are no longer free shuttles available except for the one to the Monday night Pool Party at Bluebeard's Castle. Shuttle trips to Magen's, for grocery shopping and I believe to downtown are available for a fee. I definitely recommend a rental car when staying at Bluebeard's Beach Club as it is rather remotely located. Taxis are available, but fares can add up quickly.

Have fun! Report back!

Is this place only a time share. I tried checking for rates and availability through a number of different web sites and it always comes up unavailable no matter when I check for. If not, can you please give me an idea of the off season rates.

Thanks

Bluebeard's Beach Club is a timeshare resort, however unused units are rented out by ExtraHolidays.com. Even if the website shows no availability I would call the toll free number at 800-438-6493.

Gerie,

If you have en going there so long...you must know me!! At the Monday night party? Michael Wright (Mikey) and I hosted? Did "Sould Man" at the Karaoke? Mikey is a harmonica pro? Any of that ring a bell? And if it does...here's good news! Mikey is coming back in January! Yay! Although he won't be working there...he's going to be working for me. As is Jeff, the bartender (already working for me, actually).

Yes, Marty, I know you. We actually shared several conversations around the bar a few of my August visits. I believe the last time I saw you was the day before your wedding, which, I think, was during my only April trip. How super that Mikey is returning. He's been missed at the Monday night parties. I hope you've got some outlet for his fantastic blues harp. Perhaps Fairfield will hire him as entertainment. He's got a lot of fans. I'm glad Jeff is working with you, but please don't let him leave the Beach Club. He's a special guy, someone I really look forward to seeing each year.

Uh-oh! Bad news, Gerie. Jeff has already left the Beach Club. He didn't get along with the new owners. Kinda hard to believe, isn't it? I mean, jeez! Jeff gets along with everyone!

And, yeah, there are a lot of people on this rock looking forward to Mikey's return! Hans Franning, the CEO of Fairfield, has been calling Mikey, trying to give him a job. But he wasn't listening. When I offered him a job, he jumped at it. He should be here on Jan. 4th! Yaaaayyy! But, I dunno if Fairfield would want to hire him as entertainment....working in the same tourism industry and all, but for a different company, ya know? We'll see.
