Will be staying on Water Island for a week. Is Blackbeards on St. Thomas a good half day trip?

I think you could include it in your 'shopping day' (pick a day with no ships, or the lowest amount of ships, for less foot traffic)....it's more of an 'hour thing', vs. half day trip...

Include a visit to Blackbeard's Castle as part of a self-guided walking tour of downtown Charlotte Amalie. See a few of the historic sites that will give you another perspective of St Thomas and an understanding of the rich history of the port of Charlotte Amalie.
