Hi,
My girlfriend and I are heading to St. John in a month. We were wondering if the roads are ok for biking (just touring around to different sites)? Otherwise, I guess we'll take a cab. Is there a scooter rental place on St John? Thanks.

Hello Lowell,

On St. John try Scooters in Paradise 340-693-7368. A rental jeep is a better idea though.

For Bike Tours try http://www.arawakexp.com/biketrips.htm

You can get an idea of the road by checking my photo website. In the Land Gallery of images you'll see a Rained Road shot taken on St.John just after a morning shower.

St Johns is probably the least suited island in the USVI for biking.

Difficult terrain.

Dangerous roads.

Tourists not used to driving on the left.

Don't ride a bike on St Johns. Very hard work, very dangerous.

Scooters cut down on the work, but every bit as dangerous if not more so.

remember - there is basically 0% level areas on StJ. The roads are either up! or down!
