Best Western Emerald Beach is literally down the beach and a better place to stay

Carib Beach wouldn't be my choice for vacation.

Not sure where you're looking where rates are concerned but there is no way that either Emerald Beach or Island Beachcomber (also right on the same beach and with generally good reviews) are $200/night OVER Carib Beach. Carib Beach varies from $149 to $189, Emerald Beach is $209 and Island Beachcomber is between $199 and $210.

As far as any renovations at Carib Beach are concerned I can't help you with that but you gets what you pays for (!) and you're way off on those rates, period. Whatever you decide upon, have a great time here. Cheers!
