Is best way to get from STT Airport to STJ Cruz Bay by...

Taxi to Charlotte Amalie Ferry to STJ? (~$40/couple?)
or
Taxi to Red Hook Ferry to STJ? (~$38/couple?)

How long should it take?
Are my above costs estimates (w/ 2 bags/tip) correct?

Planning for our trip in June (not soon enough)TIA

Hi Blujahz.

Rather than the Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay ferry I'd go for the Red Hook to Cruz Bay ferry because the ferry runs more frequently and for longer hours between RH and CB and because the ferry is less expensive between RH and CB. Your cost estimates sound correct.

if you have time to take the CA ferry do that. A very nice way to start the vacation.

Thanks.
Since I only got 2 responses - I assume that I must have it close enough. I will do the STT-RH-CB route since I would prefer to get to CB quickly (as I can manage going at a slow pace... 90 minutes after baggage pick-up?) in order to pick up a 4WD and get to the Westin for check-in.

btw, I can use the direct ferry service from the STT airport to Westin for $150 RT per couple - but will likely not use as we have no plans to go back/forth between STJ/STT, and have read some bad reviews about it - and almost 2x the cost. Plus, I would prefer to pick-up 4WD in CB since I understand I can park in the rental lot there.

The next question (will ask separately) will be what rental agency in CB is best to use.

Hello,

The choice between the two ferries depends a lot on what time you are getting in, the Red Hook ferry runs more frequently and later - so check the ferry schedule - there is a link at the top of this page.

Your prices sound right.

Time:
Airport to CA: 8-10 minutes
Airport to RH: About 35 minutes
(in low-medium traffic)

And then the RH ferry takes 15-20 minutes and the CA ferry takes about 40 minutes.
