*Hello Islander:

Ive been to VI several times but not on a cruise ship. We are there 7am-6pm
My ship will dock in Havensight In July. We want to ferry over to St John. Do you suggest CA or red hook. From what I can see CA has the least amount of ferries. What is your opinion. Also, is it possible to get to waterlemon key(by taxi) once I hit St Johh, I believe its near Anaburg. Is there a way to get down to the shore? Ive only gone by boat in prior trips. In your opinion..where is the best snorkeling and the easiet to get to. Should we go to Trunk Bay, Hawksnewst, Cinnamon? Help!! They have not been to Trunk bay yet. Ive stayed at Maho for 10 days, so Ive been all over. We are avid snorkelers. We took a daysail last year from St Thomas, it was good, but very much for the beginner and seems that they must dock there every single time off caneel (Honeymoon beach I believe). There was not much there. After Waterlemon, Im spoiled.. What do you suggest? We are trying to save some money this time and not hire a daysail. Thank you so very much. We cant wait to get back to our beloved Virgin Islands. All your suggestions are appreciated.

One more question. Is it possible to swim/snorkel at Secret Harbor w/o hopping over to St. John. Is the Snorkeling good? Can I use their beach or is it for their guests only. That would give me more beach time. Might be nice to be able to swim/snorkel and go get lunch at their restaurant. I have researched this resort and its on my list to stay at.

Do they allow people to use secret harbor beach other than their hotel patrons or will we get told to leave?

All answers greatly appreciated.

Marge

Secret Harbour beach is public but the chairs, umbrellas and hammocks are supposed to be for guest only. We were there for a week this past june/july and did not notice anyone being asked to move from the chairs. Great beach for sun and plenty of shade as well. Love the beach bar and the food at Blue Moon for breakfast and lunch was great.

Between Trunk, Cinnamon and Hawksnest, I'd go with Cinnamon. If you go all the way to the right, it's fairly private and the snorkeling is great. Can't go wrong with Trunk, although it might be a little more crowded. Hawksnest was OK, but not nearly as nice as the other two. (In my opinion, obviously.)

Hello Marge,

You might consider going over on the Red Hook Ferry and coming back on the CA ferry.

It is possiable to take a taxi to Annaberg... the trail to Waterlemon begins just after Annaberg's parking lot. You can get to Waterlemon by hiking the short trail.

If you want to save time, rather then driving out to Annaberg and then hiking you can do one of the other beaches. Cinnamon Bay might be a good choice.

It is possiable to go to Secret Harbor beach. There is pretty good snorkeling there and the restaurant/bar is nice. You won't get told to leave; you might be charged for using the beach chairs if you choose to use them.

Have a great time.
