Hello! My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon in St. Thomas at Secret Harbor. We were wondering what the best months to visit are and if there are any months to avoid going there. We would appreciate any advice. Thanks so much!
Pick a date between Jan. 1st and December 31st...they are all the same! Haha! Weather-wise we only have a 5 or six degree difference from the hottest part of summer to the coldest part of winter. "Season" is from November to May, so you will find higher prices (plane tix, hotels, etc.) and more people during that time. There is really no time to avoid...unless a tropical storm or hurricane is on it's way (the height of hurricane season is September), but you have plenty of notice if you need to re-schedule (trip cancellation insurance is a good idea during that time). Make sure to bring passports so you can do a BVI excursion, they're great. You will have an AWESOME honeymoon in the VI!
Alia: If you're coming on your honeymoon, the best time would be after the wedding! 😉
While Marty is somewhat correct about the weather (the highs in summer are near 90, in the winter, 80), there are some differences in the water (78-79 in the winter, 84 in the summer) and surf (winter storms in the Atlantic can cause surf and rougher seas.) Also, the summer is usually much quieter- maybe some restaurants will be closed, but you also may have a beach all to yourself! In the winter, there are more activities, bands, etc.
Anytime is the best time IMO
Thanks to everyone for their advice! We have booked our honeymoon for this March and cannot wait:)
