HI all,
My brother and I are visiting St. Thomas in a few weeks. I have been trying to research the best place to stay for the younger crowd and the best bars to go to. Of course we would also like to visit beaches during the day... I am 23 and my brother is 18 so we are looking for the hot spots... Any suggestions?
I was leaning toward Red Hook...
Thanks.
You could stay at Bolongo Bay, they have a fun, young crowd at their beach volleball and beach bar. Then you have access to Red Hook - which has several fun spots. You can take a cab or rent a car (not sure if you can at 23 I think you need to be 25???? not positive) and go into Charlotte Amalie for the cars there and in Frenchtown. Also head to Havensight also be car/taxi for some happening spots there too. Red Hook is a good place to start though.

Thanks Islander. I have checked into the car rental and I can rent for an additional fee. Would you recommend renting a car or is relying on taxis not so bad money wise?
Taxis will get to be expensive; for going to the beach and back, to town and back, to restaurants and back, to clubs and back, to St. John.... these are all charged per person per destination - not metered.
If might be a good idea to rent a car for the whole time or at least part of the trip so that you can drive around the island, check things out, beach hop, take it over to St. John and explore. I would say a car is a great idea.

those one dollar safari taxis are a good option during the day, its just that at night, they stop running.
Thank you to all. I found that the minimum age for Budget Rental is 21 so I am all set. All I need now is the next few weeks of work to fly by and then I am off to discover the beautiful beaches and party hot spots...
As for young party spots, try the Shipwreck Tavern and Duffy's.
