Hello
My wife and I are visiting your beautiful island on 24th Thur the 31st.
Is there a best day to go to St Johns with the car ferry.(food specials, islands happenings, drink specials, best beach)
Also is there a good place to go on St Thomas that plays live rock and roll or good dance music?
Check the car ferry schedule. If yo want to be on STJ after dark you'll need to sleep-over or take the passenger ferry. The car ferry does not run after dark.
Please, the is no s. It's St. John. Or St. John's car ferry. Or STJ. Thank you!
Enjoy!!!
You'll find the ferry schedules and rates top right under "Quick Links". When going over on a day trip with your car to St John (no "s") it's often better to buy a one way ticket instead of the round trip option. It's a couple of $s more but the ferry operators don't honor each other's tickets and it can often save you a wait at Cruz Bay when you can hop onto the first barge going out. If you want to stay late on St John, park your car in the lot at the Red Hook ferry terminal and take the passenger ferry over - the last one back leaves at 11PM.
For information on what's going on the week that you're here (both on St Thomas and St John) check the free weekly advertising paper, "Island Trader". It comes out in hard copy every Thursday and can be found in most supermarkets and general stores while you can also access it online via a link at www.virginislandsdailynews.com. There's also, "St Thomas This Week" which you can find all over (and I believe at the airport when you arrive) while, if you're staying at a resort, the concierges can give you some hints on what's happening. Have fun!
On the occasions we want to stay later in STJ for dinner we drop everyone off in Cruz Bay , send one person back with the car to the Red Hook lot and they take the next people ferry back and meet up with us for dinner. We can use the car all day in STJ that way.
I hope you treat the "shuttle driver" to dinner!!!
There are plenty of places on STT that play live music. Where are you staying? The New Latitude 18 at Vessup on the East End is a popular spot. Check them on Facebook. A few bands from the States are touring here this season, so you may be in luck!
You might like Jenny Floyd. I think he's at Bluebeard's/ Limetree on Mon nights.
