I'm planning a trip to ST Thomas the first week in June. What is the local take on "Gotta Do" while I'm there? I am a certified diver, not really in to the dancy night scene (but I love a great drink and fab food). ARe you allowed to swim the shorter distances between islands (1/2 mile)? And.....what's your fav. beach? ( ;

Since you are a diver, I would definitely recommend diving with Chris Sawyer Dive Center. In June (because the north swell is usually gone) there are some great dives like the Tunnels and Arches and Carvelle Rock as well as the Friday Wreck of the Rhone dive. There aren't many interisland passages that are only 1/2 mile. The biggest problem once you get out of a bay is boat traffic- and they are not looking for swimmers! For pure swimming- Magen's Bay, Brewer's Bay or Nazareth Bay are popular. My favorite beach? Hmm, if I tell it might get crowded! There are lots to try-and it depends what you want to do- snorkel, make sand castles, sleep, etc...

For non-dancy night scene but fab food and drinks with a fab view try Banana Tree Grill and Room with a View at Bluebeards Castle. For more fun drinks try Greenhouse, Fat Tuesdays and/or Duffy's. There are other great spots also.
