What are the best beaches for just hanging out and chilling for the day. There's going to be 10 of us and some will need shade. We will also want a place to eat and of course drink some lovely Caribbean adult beverages.

Do any of the beaches have bands that play on certain days?

Is it possible to spend the day at The Buccanneer beach and rent chairs and eat at the restaurant? What about the other resorts and which has the best beach?

Thanks to everyone on this board for your help!

14 days and counting

Denise

Denise - I remember you first started posting questions for STX on this board many many months ago and here it is now just 2 weeks till blast off - lucky you

Anyway - yes you can spend the whole day at the buccaneer resort - they'll be glad to have you - they have everything there you need- beach chairs - restrooms - restaurant - some water toys - great beach - great water. They might charge admission, not sure, tell them at the gate that your going to be spending a lot of money at the restaraunt and they might let you go for free.

Just down the road in shoys estate is shoys beach IMO it is the best beach on island, but your on your own there, the only thing provided there is a beautiful beach and beautiful calm waters and some shade.

A few miles farther east is Cheney Bay - they have chairs - restrooms and restaraunt

A few more miles east on the south side of the island is Grapetree beach - another beautiful beach but again it's not going to be there unless you bring it with you kind of beach.

On the Northwest part of the island is Cane Bay - they have everything there but beach chairs - This is the location of the "Wall" - big big scuba spot.

On the West side there is Rainbow beach and Sand Castle on the beach

And of course there is Turtle Beach on Buck Island - you have to take a charter sail to get there - but get there you must

I've only hit on a few of the beaches - these are the ones that I know of.

Hope everyone in your group has a blast

Steve

Sorry Yes it is St.Croix. Thanks Steve you answered all of my questions!

I am sure we will have a blast. I am going with my husband 2 of my brothers and their wives and 2 of my sisters and their husbands.

We always all go on vacation together and have so much fun. Another of the many advantages of coming from a big family!

Anymore suggestions?

Thanks for all the help and good wishes!

Denise

Definitely the Buccaneer. Tell the guard you are going to eat lunch at the restaurant and there's no charge for the beach. Chenay Bay is also one of my favorites, as is Cane Bay.

Cane Bay is much more laid back. There is a beach restaurant right on the beach that has chaises for rent -- not too many, but some.

If you have time, go to both the Buccaneer and Cane Bay and compare the two, totally different and both totally fun.
